Pre-installation requirements

The following must be completed or agreed upon before the v6.5 update can be applied to your site:

• The new advanced search will not upgrade existing advanced searches. Document your existing searching because you will need to rebuilt them.
• The advanced letter writer is going to go away. Make sure that Tracker support has a copy of any template forms you use because they will need to be built in to the PDF writer system.
• Purchased Clients Only: With the 6.5 release we are not longer support SQL 2000. You will need to upgrade to SQL 2005 or 2008 to get this update.

Original Release

On January 19, 2009, Tracker Products released version 6.5. This update culminates over six months of programming work. This page will review many of the enhancements.

• Data Structure Enhancement We redesigned how data is stored, in order to alleviate time-out errors and speed issues that some have experienced under heavier use situations.
• Report Server Not only did we redesign how data is stored in the system to improve efficiency but we created a report server so that all reporting can run against a backup report server. The primary database is only used for data entry and quick views in this scenario.
• Chain of Custody Custom Fields Tracker now allows you to customize the information being collected during check in, check out and move transactions.
• Disposition Custom Fields Similar to chain of custody custom fields, you may now have custom fields on the disposition screen.
• View Page This section of the system received some major enhancements. We are preparing to move to a more view page centric system. We are trying to get the system to a point where you can perform most transactions on a case right from the view tab. No need to go back to the main menu just to perform a new function.
• Complete Revision of Advanced Search We didn't enhance the old advanced search, we replaced it entirely. Not only will this new version work much better but we have added a lot of new features.
• Adv Search Email Management Build advanced searches and have them sent via email to any email address you want including non system users.
• Show Adv Searches You can now run saved advanced searches right from the plugin report drop down menu.
• Removal of Letter Writer With further development of the bucket list and PDF forms we are completely removing the letter writer. All template forms should be built as a part of the bucket list.
• Remove Archive Feature There is no longer a need to archive a case. We are going to move any archived cases back to the primary tables. The archive featured existed in the first place to cut down on the amount of records that were in the primary table. The system has now been designed to handle millions of records so we don't have to worry about too many records in the primary table.
• Plugin Reports on Bucket List We are moving all system reports to the bucket list so that you can select items from any page that shows a set of items and add those items to the report.
• PDA Update Fixes to audit feature and syncing issues (Not available till the first week of February 2010)
• Permissions to add permissions We removed the case based feature that a user could assign permissions to other users. With this addition only a user with permissions to add permissions can allow another user to have access to a case.
• Set case active This feature will allow you to select a case and set it active in the system. Once a case is set active you will not have to enter the case on ever page that asks for a case number. Each page will just use the active case and move on.
• Last 5 Cases The grey menu bar on the left side of the screen will now show the last 5 cases that you have been working on. Each is a direct link to the view tab.
• Plugin reports on the bucket list The plugin report drop down menu will show all saved advanced searches. Now a user can run a report from the plugin report drop down menu versus going to advanced search and then running the desired report.
• Topaz Sig Pad For those of you with a Topaz USB desktop signature pad you can now collect a signature for check in, check out, moves and dispositions.

6.5R1

• Updates to Quick Search - User can now do case and person based quick searches. Prior to this update you could only get item based results.
• Updates to Location setup - Custom fields --> Locations have received a pretty good overhaul. This section will now be much easier to use.
• Docs and Pics Update - Docs and Pics are now stored in the database instead of the file structure.

6.5R2 and R3

• Back Button - The IE back button now works. You can now move backwards through the site using your IE back button. In previous versions this was disabled.
• Custom Note Fields - Via system customization you can now create new fields in the notes section. This allows for more detailed note taking.
• Adv Search Contains - Advanced Searching now allows you to select the comparison 'contain' option.

6.5R4

• Global Data Field Adds the ability to store multiple custom fields of the same type (ie serial numbers) in the same data field so that you don't have to search multiple custom fields when looking for data as in the serial number field.
• Last 50 Cases Drop Down Drop down menus for view tab, add item, add person, add pic, add note and other misc screen to show the last 50 cases in the drop down or auto fill in the case field as you type in a case number.

6.5R5

• Link/Unlink Complete revamp to the link / unlink feature.
• AJAX Based Drop Down Menu New addition to help browsing of cases.
