Performing transactions with a desktop bar code scanner
You can use a desktop bar code scanner to perform check-ins, check-outs, item moves and dispositions.
This section contains information for using non-portable desktop scanners. For information on performing transactions with a portable PDA scanner, visit the mobile tracking support section.
If you are concerned that your bar code scanner is not working properly, visit the testing help file.
Perform transactions
1. Click on in the top menu and select .
2. Click the

3. Select the type of transaction you would like to perform and click .
4. Scan all of the items in your transaction and click .
All items in a transaction must be of the same transaction type. For example, if five items are being checked-out to the lab and five items are being checked out to an officer, two separate transactions must be performed.
5. Check to make sure each of the items in your transaction are available for the type of transaction you are performing. A checked-out item can not be checked-out. A checked-in item can not be checked-in.
6. In the issued-to/issued-by field, enter the name of the person giving you the items or the name of the person receiving them (this would be your name if you are the one transporting the items).
7. If checking-in items, select the location you are checking-in to. If checking-out items, select the reason. If the items are being checked-out to another agency within your organization, select that location in the dropdown.
