Dispose of items in your system using a PDA scanner

Item disposition is the process of effectively destroying items in your tracking system. For chain-of-custody purposes, items are never actually erased from your database. They are, however, rendered inactive when disposed.

Item disposition

1. Click the 'Dispose' icon on your PDA device's main menu.

2. Select between 'Disposing' and 'Updating'.

When selecting 'Disposing', the item or group of items will be fully disposed.

When selecting 'Updating', the properties of an item or group of items can be updated to prepare for disposition

3. Begin scanning the items you wish to update or dispose.

Each item in a given transaction must have the same type of disposition applied to them. Items with varying disposition types must be scanned in separate transactions.

4. After completing the scan of all items, click the Done button in the bottom left corner of the screen.

5. Complete the fields requesting information about your disposition.

  • Disposition: How are you disposing of the item or groups of items?
  • Disposition Code: Used when updating items for future disposition. See the system disposition help file for more information.
  • Disposed by: Individual performing the item disposition.
  • Date: Date of disposition.
  • Notes: Additional information related to the disposition.

6. When you have completed all of the required fields, click the Done button in the bottom left of your PDA screen.

7. Collect a signature from the individual performing the item disposition and click the Save button.

8. Sync your PDA device and import all transactions.
