Check-out items with a PDA device
Check-ins and check-outs are the two functions most commonly performed with the PDA scanner. In this section, we will review the process of checking-out items.
1. On the PDA scanner's main menu, click the Check-out icon.
2. Enter the name of the person you wish to check the item out to and select your reason for doing so.
Depending on your organization's inital PDA setup, the ‘Checked-out-to’ field is usually a manual-entry text field, in which case you will type the individual's name with the PDA keyboard. The 'Reason' field is usually set to be a drop-down menu. Either can be set to work as text boxes or drop-down menus. Contact a Tracker Products support representative for more information.

3. Scan the item or groups of items that you wish to check-out.
As you successfully scan items, their identification numbers will be displayed in the lower portion of your PDA screen.
For best results when scanning items, depress the trigger (oval button on the side of the PDA device) while holding the scanner far enough from the target so that the projection's four corner marks encompass the full bar code, with the plus sign in the center matching up with the center of the bar code. Start by holding the scanner close to the target and slowly pull it away as you scan.
4. When you have scanned all of the items you wish to check-out, click the button in the lower-left corner of your PDA screen.

5. If you wish to capture a digital signature to accompany your item check-out, allow the individual receiving the item or groups of items to sign the appropriate box on the screen using the PDA stylus pen and then click .
If you do not wish to capture a digital signature, click .
If you wish to discard a signature and capture a new one, click the button.
6. Sync your PDA device and import all transactions.
