5. In the top box, enter the names of your new sub-locations. Create each new sublocation on its own line.

The checkbox fields at the bottom will be applied to each of your new sub-locations. Therefore, if you wish to create different types of sub-locations, you will need to create them in batches - according to their type.

Types of locations:

  • Moveable Check this box if the new location in question is moveable.

Moveable locations are not common and not generally recommended. When moving a storage location, the system moves every item associated with that location to the new location, which may not be an accurate solution

  • Barcodeable Check this box if the new storage location in question will be associated with a bar code, allowing users equipped with a PDA scanner to perform transactions on items at that specific location.

If items in this location are of a sensitive nature, it is not generally advisable to check this option.

  • Temporary Location Check this box if the location being created is intended for temporary storage. Temporary locations are typically used by organizations such as police departments where officers place items in a temporary location because they don't have access to the permanent item storage locations.

Your default installation settings will likely allow you to utilize this option. However, if you wish to disable it, a Tracker Products technician will be able to do so upon request.

Setting up storage locations

This screenshot is representative of what your storage locations page will look like once you have created several levels of sub-locations. Continue creating locations and sub-locations until your system matches your physical storage locations setup.

The plus sign (+) next to some of the locations indicates the presence of sub-locations associated with that item. Click the plus sign to see that structure. The last item in this screenshot shows the available sub-locations.
