Modify an item's chain-of-custody log
Tracking chain-of-custody is a primary function of Tracker Products software. As items are checked in and out of the system, detailed information about those transactions is constantly being logged and recorded for future reference.
System administrators can use the following information to update and manage some of the data stored in the chain-of-custody log. For example: when entering old items in the system, you may want the system to reflect the date those items were received instead of the date they were entered into the system.
All modifications to an item's chain-of-custody log are recorded and permanently stored in the system's advanced log.
1. Navigate to the drop-down menu at the top of the page and select .
2. Enter the name of the case you wish to modify and click .

3. To modify an item's chain-of-custody log, click the icon to the left of it.

4. Choose from one of five modifications to the item's chain-of-custody log.
- Add a new in or out entry. See 4-A below.
- Add a new miscellaneous entry. See 4-B below.
- Add a new move entry. See 4-C below.
- Delete an existing entry. See 4-D below.
- Modify an existing entry. See 4-E below.

4-A. To add a new check-in or check-out entry, click on the 'Select action' drop-down menu and choose ‘Add custody in/out entry’.
Complete the required fields and click .

4-B. To add a new miscellaneous entry, click on the 'Select action' drop-down menu and choose ‘Add custody miscellaneous entry’.

4-C. To add a new move entry, click on the 'Select action' drop-down menu and choose ‘Move item location’.

4-D. To modify an existing entry in the chain-of-custody log, click on the edit icon to the left of it.
Edit the fields you wish to modify and click when you are finished.
4-E. To delete an existing entry from the chain-of-custody log, click on the trash can icon to the left of it.
