Hosted and purchased options

Tracker Products customers are given the choice between two distinct software versions: Hosted and Purchased. Each has specific benefits. Listed below are some of the differences between the two versions.

Hosted version

With the hosted version of Tracker Products software, the client's tracking data is stored on our server and accessed from any computer with an internet connection. Software updates are implemented by the Tracker Products team as they become available. All security measures, such as data encryption and firewall, are also managed by the Tracker Products team. Data backups are performed automatically every day and stored for a period of ninety days at an off-site facility. The initial cost for the Hosted version is typically less than the Purchased version but the annual renewal cost is usually higher. Purchased version

With the purchased version of Tracker Products software, the client's tracking data is stored on a server at their location and accessed locally over the client's network. Security measures, such as data encryption and firewall, are managed by the client's IT staff. Software updates are downloaded and applied by the client's IT staff as they become available. Typically, the purchased version of Tracker Products software has a higher initial cost than the hosted version but the annual renewal rate is less. Firewall The customer's data is protected by a double-layer firewall and intrusion-detection software managed by Tracker Products. The customer's IT staff manages all firewall and intrusion-detection security measures.
Server The Tracker Products server is stored in a highly secure, monitored facility. The customer is responsible for the procuring of a server and server facility. SQL server technology required to adequately facilitate the Tracker Products environment.
Pricing Least-expensive option in terms of initial cost. Annual renewal rates are higher than purchased to account for greater involvement in storage, maintenance, upgrades and security. Higher initial cost. Annual renewal (recommended but optional for the purchased version) is less expensive.
Data storage The customer's tracking data is stored securely at the Tracker Products network operations center. The storage of the customer's tracking data is managed by their IT staff.
Data transfers The customer's data is transmitted through the internet via a secure, unidentifiable port. The customer's data is transmitted through a connection to their own internal network and not necessarily available on the internet.
Typical customer Small-to-medium-sized organization that does not employ an IT staff and/or has minimal access to technological infrastructure. Medium-to-large organizations that employ technicians to implement and monitor data security and infrastructure.
