Question: If Tracker Products software is browser-based, where does my data reside?
Answer: One of the greatest misconceptions about browser-based applications is that data is always stored somewhere on the on the public internet. Not true. Tracker Products software is available in two distinct versions; Purchased and Hosted. With the purchased version, your system data is stored on your local network and is accessed through a web browser - though not necessarily over the internet. With the hosted version, your data resides on the Tracker Products Network Operations Center server in Dallas, Texas, and is accessed with a web browser via a secure internet link.
Question: How secure is my data with the purchased version?
Answer: With the purchased version of Tracker Products software, Your data is as secure as your network. We can certainly make recommendations regarding network security but ultimately your in-house network team will be responsible for all security measures related to your tracking system - just as they are with all other systems and data collections residing on your organization’s internal server.
Question: How secure is my data with the hosted version?
Answer: With the hosted version of Tracker Products software, your system access and security is entirely our responsibility, and we don’t take that responsibility lightly. We employ advanced security measures such as 128-bit data encryption, daily backups of your database, separate site addresses with unique access pages for each customer and state-of-the-art server storage facilities — all designed to ensure the peace-of-mind that comes with knowing your system data will never be compromised.
Question: I like what I see, but what does this system cost?
Answer: Because our product is browser-based, we do not sell end-user or single-computer licenses. The cost of our system is based on a number of factors such as agency size, volume of item collection, etc. If you are interested in pricing information, please contact one of our sales representatives and we will be happy to assist you in determining the cost of implementing Tracker Products software at your department.
Question: Will Tracker Products software allow users to access the system from a squad car or other remote location?
Answer: Absolutely! As long as the squad car or remote location has access to your department’s computer network (and an internet connection), the user can access your tracking system and begin the item entry remotely. With the addition of a mobile printer, the individual could even package the item(s) and place a bar code label on them from his/her remote location.
Question: Do you offer RFID options?
Answer: Yes. Please contact a Tracker Products representative for more information on RFID (radio frequency identification) capabilities in the Tracker Products tracking system.
Question: Does your system collect a digital signature for a chain of custody transaction?
Answer: Yes. If you purchase one of our USB signature-capture devices, you’ll be able to collect a digital signature for any check-in, check-out, move or disposition.
